Yesterday Oliver Broadbent visited the University of Edinburgh for the final meeting of a 2 year Teaching Fellow grant scheme funded by the Royal Academy of Engineering.  Oliver has been working with Tim Stratford and me, both based at Edinburgh, on developing approaches to teaching conceptual design, particularly in structural engineering.  This has been a highly successful project that has transformed teaching in this area, resulted in project packs freely available on Workshed , a presentation to the IStructE and also a paper describing the approach.

We are planning next steps in our collaboration. One idea is to use this blog as a way to share new ideas and best practice in engineering teaching. Watch this space for more information.
