To quote Ian Dury:

Van Gogh done some eyeball pleasers,

He must have been a pencil squeezer,

He didn’t paint the Mona Lisa,

That was an Italian geezer…

And for my part, I reckon that more ideas are generated and tested; more design problems solved, and decisions made by  “pencil squeezing” than by any other means.
