Engineers are asked to consider the impacts of construction on the environment, in particular with respect to greenhouse gas emissions. The UK Environment Agency has produced a spread sheet that can help assess in detail the impact of a particular construction method. The UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) also provides tools for converting fuel bills and operating gases into equivalent greenhouse gas emissions.
